Random Question of the day
I've asked this question of several guy friends before, but I never really got a good explanation. So heres the question:
Boxers or briefs? And why?

Both, either or neither, depending on the circumstances. Boxers are overall more comfortable but if it's excessively humid you can have a problem with stickage. They tend to go best with slacks and loose fitting pants like dockers.
Jockeys give you the comfort and support reminiscent of a soft cotton cup. They keep things in place. They're great for tight shorts, jeans and when movement of the jewels is not desired. For example, if you're going to ride the mechanical bull down at the bar, you don't want a lot of floppage - go for for briefs.
Then there are times when it's best to "go commando". De-briefing works with any clothing style and is preferable with pajama's, silk anything, leather chaps, etc.
There's also a personal preference factor. Many guys get used to one type and won't use another option. They tend to get locked into the clothing style that is best supported by their underwear choice.

Briefs. When one wears boxers, things are a little loose, and one must sit carefully.

Well under a kilt, you are supposed to follow the regimental standard :-)

Boxers when my wife and I are trying for a baby. Otherwise, briefs. That "just a swangin'" feeling doesn't agree with me.

Boxers; My boys need room.
Heck I can't even sit with my legs close together.
BTW: whats with the use of the word "addy" People always refer to "addy" in Internet land but I never hear the same people say what's your "street addy".

Doesn't matter, long as they're Haynes.

boxer briefs!
they hold the boys well (no flopping around), don't cut into the legs like regular briefs and have better, ummmmm, presentation than boxers.

Re: "Addy"
I know! Isn't that the most bizarre thing? I always tended to think of the use of "e-mail addy" as a sign of internet newbieness. Until I encountered it from certifiable non-newbies.
Oh, as for the question, neither. Used to be briefs. Now it is those "boxer brief" thingies that combine elements of the two.
